Landscape Gardener / Technician - UK

Existing for over 20 years, our client is a well-established landscape design and build company based in Scotland with an impeccable reputation within the industry. The director of the business is a multi-award-winning garden designer, who works alongside clients and their expert team to design and build beautiful outdoor spaces. Their style focuses on combining contemporary design with soft, cottage-style planting for their all-domestic clients. Due to their increasing popularity, they are now looking for a Landscape Gardener to join the team who can work alongside their existing team of knowledgeable horticulturalists.

Duties of the Landscape Gardener will include the maintenance and upkeep of domestic gardens as well as assisting in the installation of new designs. This position is a fantastic opportunity for candidates looking to gain good technical gardening skills and establish a good working knowledge of plants and garden machinery, the role will involve the use of a range of horticultural machinery. It is important that applicants are enthusiastic and self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative as well as in a team environment. Tasks will include the following responsibilities:

• Maintaining gardens to the highest standard of horticultural practice
• Hard & Soft Landscaping and associated Groundworks
• Interpreting and following technical plans for new Groundworks
• Operating various plant & machinery including lawnmowers, strimmers, chainsaw's etc.
• Plant and border maintenance
• Planting, pruning, weeding and mulching
• Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to work
• Liaising with customers and staff
• Adhering to strict H&S policies and procedures on site
• Be aware of health and safety on site

Key Skills:

The person appointed will be working within a small team, and when necessary, on a sole basis. It’s important that candidates have good communication skills, combined with a proactive and flexible approach to their duties.

The ideal candidate will hold:

• Existing plant knowledge with a horticultural qualification being desirable but not essential
• Experience working in a similar role
• Proven track record and demonstrable experience in both Hard & Soft Landscaping
• Exceptional attention to detail, have a creative flare and a passion for learning
• Be punctual, tidy in appearance and have good "common sense"
• Experienced in operating various plant & machinery including lawnmowers, strimmers, chainsaw's etc.
• Full UK Drivers Licence (preferable)
• The ability to interpret and work from technical plans
• Able to demonstrate a strong focus on customer care combined with excellent communication skills
