HGV Technician - UK

We are looking for an HGV technician to join our growing team in our new flagship location on a permanent day shift predominantly Monday to Friday and occasional Saturday mornings which will be paid as overtime.

Flexible Vehicle Logistics has a fleet of Car Transporters and is growing fast. Due to the rapid organic growth, we require highly motivated and skilled HGV Technicians to join our team of technicians.
Working from our newly built workshop facility, the primary purpose of the technicians is to support the maintenance & repairs of our fleet, keeping downtime to a minimum which is critical to our operational goals.

Job Purpose: To maintain and repair vehicles, trailers and auxiliary equipment to VOSA standards.

Responsibilities:

· To undertake maintenance and servicing of vehicles and trailers to VOSA and manufacturer’s standards.
· Undertake maintenance of equipment and ancillary equipment to manufacturers and Company standards and procedures.
· Complete all relevant paperwork and documentation e.g. service sheets (R2C), defect reports, Job cards
· Maintain a safe and tidy workplace and assist in general housekeeping.
· Assist in the ordering of parts when authorized and making sure all parts are booked to the correct jobs.
· Adhere to all Company rules. Ensure that workplace health and safety requirements are met and any other regulations stipulated by law.
· Report, inspect and document findings and faults to equipment on a daily basis and throughout the course of the working day.
· To be flexible with regard to working hours as the needs of the business changes.
· Assist in the improvement & development of the workshop operation.
· To maintain a professional appearance in the workplace in line with Company requirements.
· To undertake appropriate training and personal development activities.
· To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required, consistent with the nature and level of the post.

The Role:

· You will ensure the most efficient and highest possible standard of mechanical and electrical repair, preventative maintenance and modification of customer vehicles and related ancillary equipment
· Responsibility for the safety of the working environment and all colleagues/persons within it
· Work as part of a team to maintain and build employee and customer relations to ensure the workshop operation achieves its objectives and targets
· Undertake comprehensive & preventative maintenance, repair and diagnostic analysis
· Correct fault diagnosis to ensure replacement parts are fitted correctly and warranty claims are in line with terms
· Dealing professionally and proficiently with all enquiries and completing job cards and service sheets in a timely manner

The Person:

· Minimum 5 years’ experience within a commercial vehicle environment working on HGV/LCV
· Previous experience working on Transporter Engineering (Highly desired) but not essential as onsite training will be given.
· City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 or above
· Knowledge of typical maintenance and repair work on commercial vehicle
· Good communication & organisational skills
· Have practical understanding of using information technology and systems to deliver objectives
· Good knowledge of all HS&E Regulations, safety aware and committed to a right first-time ethos
· Experience of working in a fast paced and demanding customer environment, with a flexible approach towards meeting the needs of the customer
· A team player who’s enthusiastic, with the ability to work on your own initiative whilst remaining focused and with a consistent ‘can do’ attitude
· Demonstrates commercial awareness and has a good understanding and experience of a busy workshop operating environment
· Flexible approach needed to assist the company growth
· HGV Class 1 license (desirable)
